Refund policy

We describe everything honestly. If something isn't right, we'll make it right. And if a piece simply isn't for you, you have fourteen days to send it back — no reason needed.

This page explains how returns, your right of withdrawal, and refunds work. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer under Dutch and EU law.

Your right of withdrawal

As a consumer, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days without giving any reason.

The 14-day period starts the day after you, or someone you have nominated, receives the order. If your order arrives in more than one parcel, the period starts the day after the last parcel arrives.

To exercise this right, you need to tell us clearly within those 14 days that you are withdrawing. You can do this by:

  • emailing us at returns@avesso.nl, or
  • using the model withdrawal form at the end of this page.

You don't have to use the form — any clear statement is enough. To keep within the 14 days, it's enough to send us your decision before the period ends.

Sending the item back

Once you've told us you're withdrawing, you have a further 14 days to send the item back to us.

You can try a piece on as you would in a shop — to see how it fits and whether it's right for you. But please handle it with the same care you'd expect from us. If an item is returned showing wear beyond a normal try-on, we may reduce your refund to reflect the loss in value.

Because each piece is one of a kind, we'd ask that you send it back well packed and, where possible, the way it arrived.

Refunds

Once we've received the item back — or you've shown us it's on its way — we'll refund you within 14 days of being told you wished to withdraw.

Your refund covers what you paid for the item, plus the standard delivery cost you paid on the original order. If you chose a faster or more expensive delivery option, we refund the standard rate rather than the premium.

We refund to the same payment method you used, unless we've agreed otherwise with you. The refund won't cost you anything.

Who pays for return shipping

If you're withdrawing because the piece simply wasn't for you, the cost of sending it back to us is yours.

If the item arrived faulty, damaged, or not as we described it, the return is on us — we'll arrange and cover it.

If something isn't as described

Our pieces are second-hand, and we grade and describe their condition honestly — including any wear or flaws. Signs of a garment's age that match the grade we've given are part of what you're buying, and aren't faults.

But if an item arrives faulty, damaged in transit, or genuinely not as we described it, that's on us. You have the full protection of the legal guarantee of conformity under Dutch and EU law, which sits alongside your right of withdrawal above and is never shortened by it. Depending on what's wrong, you may be entitled to a repair, a replacement, a price reduction, or a refund.

Write to us at orders@avesso.nl, ideally with a photo, and we'll sort it.

The few exceptions

The right of withdrawal doesn't apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised. Almost everything we sell is a standard second-hand garment, so in practice this rarely comes up.
